The Treatment of Lower Extremity Lengthening by Ilizarov External Ring Fixator Combined with Intyerlocking Intramedullary Nail

Abstract
|
|
|
For the treatment of the lengthening of lower limb, Ilizarov external ring fixator was mainly used. And there were many complications caused by the long application duration of Ilizarov external ring fixator such as a pin tract infection, a
prolonged
disability, delayed social recovery, and psychologic trauma. In order or avoid the complications of external fixatorto short the application period of external fixator, we did combine with Ilizarov ring wxternal fixator and interlocking
intramedullary
nail for the treatment of lengthening of lower extremity.
@ES The results were as follow:
@EN 1. In 14cases, femur were in 4 and tibia in 10.
2. Mean lengthening of lower limb was 5.6cm.
3. Mean application period of external fixator for 1cm lengthening was 18.8 days in the tibia and 27.5 in femur.
We did short the application period of external fixator and decrease the complication by external fixator.
